I was doing a little research on my family (dad’s paternal side) this weekend. One of my aunts has a lot of information put together. I found this little snippet about my great-great-great grandmother and her son, Glover (my great-great grandfather). It made me cry.
When she was sick, it was real hot. Glover washed her face and fanned her for hours. He said “Mama, is there anything I can do for you?” She said “Just find me a cool place to lay my body down!” When she died he found a spot where the shade of a tree would be over her grave in the afternoon.
That’s love, y’all.
