A few days ago, my friend Jen posted her recap of the movies she’s seen recently as well as a list of those that she is excited (and not so excited) to see this summer. That inspired me. So today I am going to share with you a few of the films that I am excited to see this summer. And maybe by posting them here I will remember to go see them. You’ll see that I’m not much of a summer blockbuster person. Action movies don’t really do it for me. I like quiet films with very real characters and understated, bittersweet love stories. Throw in the occasional epic, cheesy musical, or period piece and, well, there you have it.
I used to keep a better lookout for things that I was interested in seeing, but life gets in the way and taking time to go to the theater, cough up the cash, and spend 2-3 hours there is very difficult anymore. However, if there is one thing that will inspire me to do all of the above it is a musical. Later today I am kicking off my Single Girl Weekend (husband out of town*) with a matinee screening of Rock of Ages. I’ll be sure to tell you all what I think of it afterward, just know now that I am SUPER excited for this.
The others I’m interested in seeing are below the cut. What movies are you looking forward to this summer?
*I don’t typically announce things like that but 1) if you knew where I lived and wanted to rob me I figure you would have done it by now and 2) on the off chance you would still like to take my stuff, kindly wait a few weeks because I am planning a garage sale. Much obliged.
Your Sister’s Sister – This looks sweet and I really like Emily Blunt.
Killer Joe – Creepy Matthew McConaughey. I think this one will be all kinds of weird, but I still want to see it.
Lawless – Prohibition. Fun times. I will call this research since it covers the time period I’m writing about.
The Words – I am not entirely sure what’s going on in this one, but I like the looks of the trailer. And it’s about a writer. I’m there.
Oklahoma girl through-and-through. Writer, aspiring domestic goddess and totalitarian dictator. Taking on the world one carb-induced coma at a time. Co-host of Picture Shows & Petticoats.

I’m possibly accompanying my husband (because I’m such a good wife, ha!) to see Dark Knight Rises, which might actually be exciting! Other than that, I’ll keep this list as a handy reference since there are a few films on here that I might want to see by myself.
Re: Rock Of Ages – I am right there!
Russel Brand? I think he’s pretty funny, you don’t need to say any more.
The ever-beautiful Catherine Zeta Jones? You don’t need to say any more.
A MUSICAL?! You don’t need to say any more!
That You Sister’s Sister looks pretty cool too, as does that The Words.
PS. Just found out Russel Brand and Emily Blunt are both staring in another film, The Five Year Engagement… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuDpU1vzekE&feature=relmfu
