Goals!
1. Write 5000 words on WIP (verse novel)
2. Complete at least one writing exercise each week ✔
3. Write something every day ✔

Two out of three isn’t bad, right? I didn’t get 5000 words on my WIP this month, but I did manage to write 5000 words of something. I’m happy with that. August is looking like a better month for me — Kevin goes back to work, I’ll have a more concrete daily schedule (not just for writing), and things start to get back to “normal.” (New normal!) I did complete one writing exercise each week and have managed to churn out a few new ideas through that. I have written something every single day. This is a big deal for me!

With that, I’m going to call July a moderate success. My goals were realistic and I didn’t end up disappointed with myself. Here’s to August!

Glad you’re happy with what you accomplished. I know it didn’t help having me interrupt your schedule for a week. I pray that August will be a fruitful month for you! I am still really excited about you getting into your “new normal,” and I keep telling people about how you’re going after your dreams. It’s inspiring!

  2. Woohoo! Look at you go! Yes, I would definitely call this a success. I’ve been trying to write every day, but it doesn’t always happen. 10-1 you probably wrote more than 5000 words this month. It would have been awesome to get that into your WIP, but sometimes things don’t happen that way.

So, yes, call it a win. Put a notch in your belt and chug on into August. :D

One thing you didn’t put in was the rockin’ new hair cut. :D

  3. I’d love to hear more about your WIP verse novel. I’m a verse novelist myself as well as the curator of Versenovels.com, a blog and website about the form. I’m hoping to write a piece about up-and-coming and aspiring verse novelists. Perhaps you’d like to take part!

Writing. Yeah. July was not good for writing. I have a goal to submit to a magazine for a deadline in early September though. And sometime start my Florida Trail book again.

    You did good!

  5. I’m with you on being disappointed in my personal progress but you have at least written something every single day – that is no small feat. I like your attitude of looking forward to August.

Two out of three is awesome, and you wrote every day which is even better. I’d say July was a success! :-)

Cheers! *raises glass* Here’s to your moderate success! Roll on August, and the next set of goals!
