Five Minute Friday: What mama did

My “heart lists” are a regular feature here on my blog, and something I have been doing for about 10 years now. You can find more of them here.

♥ the whir of a sewing machine into the late hours of the night
♥ laughing so hard that tears come
♥ a good mystery show on TV
♥ Christian romances where everything turns out right
♥ popsicles in the summer
♥ letting kids run through a sprinkler, screaming
♥ long walks and bike rides down winding dirt roads
♥ calling for us to come home, our names echoing down the hill and through the trees
♥ snow cones and trips to the pool
♥ lemon squares with powdered sugar
♥ artifacts of days long passed, dug from the garden
♥ fresh picked tomatoes
♥ dozens of flowerbeds, ever changing
♥ a giving heart that never stops
♥ a seemingly infinite capacity to love
♥ homeroom mother
♥ craft shows
♥ quilts and baby blankets
♥ jewelry…lots of it
♥ clothing I outgrew in 4th grade
♥ baby birds

I started this a different way and then went back and began again, even though that’s not what this is all about. Some stories are not ready to be told.

  1. Hey, this is cool and a great writing prompt idea for ESL teachers and students too. The idea could be used to teach students to brainstorm ideas without language and vocabulary blockages. They have trouble writing down basic ideas. I’m so going to do this on my blog applying it to an education standpoint though. Thanks for doing this. It’s awesome!

  2. I love list! and what an awesome name for them. I’m looking forward to lots of things on your list 😉 thanks for reminding me of the good things ahead, especially since it is cold and snowy today.

    1. Thank you for stopping by, Karrie! My mom revels in summertime activities, forever in the garden in her big straw hat, which looks a little funny on her teeny tiny frame (I outgrew her in 4th grade 😉 ). She’s a lovely person.

  3. This list makes me so happy. You are a girl after my own heart, and I have many, many similar lists in my own notebooks! Love the little hearts, now I want a lemon square with powdered sugar, and don’t you wish life was like those beautiful Christian romance books?!
